INTRODUCTION
Talk to me about dad only when he is dead.
I got the call on June 2025. He died in my mother's hometown, deep in the Philippine provinces. The church and the nunnery where he volunteered knew him as a generous man who came every day to weep at his wife's grave. While he was paying for local children to go to school, he had sworn not to pay a cent for his own daughters who went to school anyway, and became professors.
My sister Rhacel decided the truth must be told out loud at his eulogy. I went with a camera to stand beside her.
My mother's family kept him out of their mausoleum. He is buried alone for eternity.
My sisters and I turn away from our father. We turn toward each other and use our education to speak. In this movie, we are not spoken for.
